What Makes This A Gem: It's one of those AUs, with a premise about summer love and old crushes that really come together. The prose is genuinely funny, the characters make a real connection and you could understand their liking each other, and the side-characters are wonderful together. It's also surprisingly heartbreaking at the climax, despite the happy ending, and it was just a genuinely awesome fic.
