What makes this a gem: This is a really charming AU (based on Mary Robinette Kowal's Glamourist Histories series, I think?) of what is already an absolutely perfect meet-cute. The magic fits perfectly into the canon setting, and I really enjoyed the casting of the otherwise omnipotent Alverstoke as the underpowered outsider among the Merrivilles.
